The government has re-appointed M Rajeshwar Rao as Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for a period of one year, ending on October 8, 2025. The Appointment Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved this re-appointment, effective from October 9, 2024, or until further orders.
M Rajeshwar Rao was initially appointed as RBI Deputy Governor in October 2020 for a three-year term. He previously served as an executive director at the RBI since November 2016 and has extensive experience in various aspects of the central bank’s operations, including overseeing the Risk Monitoring Department.
