Hitendra Malhotra, an officer of the Indian Railway Management Service (IRMS), has been appointed as the Member (Operations and Business Development) of the Railway Board, Ministry of Railways, Government of India. Along with this new role, he will also serve as the Ex-officio Secretary to the Government of India.
Before this appointment, Malhotra held the position of General Manager at Chittaranjan Locomotive Works, where he was instrumental in overseeing the manufacturing and operational activities. His appointment is expected to further strengthen the Railway Board’s efforts in enhancing operational efficiency and business development within the Indian Railways.
As Member (Operations and Business Development), Malhotra will be responsible for the strategic planning and execution of operations across the country’s vast railway network, focusing on improving services, expanding business prospects, and boosting the overall growth of the rail sector. His vast experience in managing high-profile projects and his deep understanding of railway operations will play a crucial role in driving the government’s vision for modernizing Indian Railways.
