Tenure Extensions Approved for Senior Government Officials

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the extension of tenure for several senior officials across key departments:

Prof. Abhay Karandikar, Secretary, Department of Science & Technology, has been granted a one-year extension in his tenure with effect from July 1, 2025, or until further orders, whichever is earlier. Prof. Karandikar has been leading various national initiatives in science and innovation policy.

Sanjay Garg (IAS: 1994: KL), serving as Additional Secretary, Department of Agricultural Research & Education and Secretary, Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), has had his central deputation tenure extended for one year beyond August 24, 2025, i.e., up to August 24, 2026.

Niraj Kumar Gayagi (IDAS: 1997), currently Joint Secretary in the Department of Justice, has received an extension of his central deputation tenure for a combined six-year period, now continuing up to April 6, 2026.

Kumar Ravi Kant Singh (IAS: 2008: UP), Joint Secretary, Department of Military Affairs, has been granted a two-year extension in his central deputation tenure beyond June 1, 2025.
