Nikunja Bihari Dhal, a 1993-batch IAS officer of the Odisha cadre and the current Secretary in the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, has been entrusted with the additional charge of Secretary, Department of Justice, Ministry of Law & Justice.
He will hold the additional responsibility from 17 November 2025 to 30 November 2025, during the period of leave of Niraj Verma, a 1994-batch IAS officer of the Assam-Meghalaya cadre.
During this temporary assignment, Dhal will oversee key functions of the Department of Justice, including judicial reforms, legal administration, and coordination with the judiciary, until Verma resumes duties.
