Manoj Kumar Singh, National Coordinator, AIC Vichar Department, has expressed deep concern over the proposed increase in electricity tariffs by the Bihar government.

He stated that the decision taken by the BJP+ government in Bihar will place an additional financial burden on the common people. According to available information, from April 1, an additional premium of up to 20% will be charged on electricity usage between 5:00 PM and 11:00 PM, which will directly affect the daily needs of middle-class and low-income families.
Manoj Kumar Singh said that this is the time when children return home and begin their studies, household cooking activities take place, and families spend time together. Making electricity more expensive during these hours will have a direct impact on the lives of ordinary people.
He further stated that collecting extra charges from the public in the name of smart meters and peak-hour tariffs is against public interest. Earlier, people were concerned about the availability of electricity; now they will also have to worry about rising electricity costs.
He urged the Bihar government to reconsider this decision and take steps to keep electricity tariffs affordable in the interest of the public.
