Anand Swaroop, a 1992-batch Indian Police Service officer of the Uttar Pradesh cadre, has been appointed as the Director General (Investigation) in the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC). He will serve in this capacity until the date of his superannuation on August 31, 2029.
He succeeds R. Prasad Meena (IPS: 1993: AM), who is set to retire on July 31, 2025. The appointment marks a key leadership transition in the NHRC’s investigative wing, which plays a critical role in ensuring accountability and safeguarding human rights in the country.
