Who will succeed Army Chief Manoj Pande? Lt General Upendra Dwivedi is the senior most Army officer who could be next Army Chief. He is presently GOC-in-C Northern Command. Gen Manoj Pande, Army Chief is scheduled to retire in May this year.

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the re-appointment of Dr. Michael Debabrata Patra, Deputy Governor, Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for a further period of one year with effect from 15 January.

Abhilaksh Likhi, Secretary, Department of Fisheries, has been assigned an additional charge of Secretary, Animal Husbandry and Dairying till February 4, 2024. He is a 1991 batch IAS officer of Haryana cadre.

Review of Secretary and Additional Secretary level empanelment in the Government of India is expected in a month or two.

A couple of 1991 batch IPS officers in IB are being promoted to the rank of Additional Director in a month or two.

Central government has appointed former Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) Director General Sheel Vardhan Singh as a member of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). He is a 1986 batch IPS officer of Bihar cadre.

According to information, interviews for the post of the Chairman, TRAI were held recently. It is said that about one dozen candidates reportedly appeared for the post.
