According to the official order, the appointment is for a tenure of five years. Debapriya Bardhan is a 2012-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer from the Tripura cadre.
In the new role, he will be involved in handling key matters related to public finance, government expenditure, and budgetary policies under the Department of Expenditure, which functions under the Ministry of Finance.
The appointment is expected to strengthen administrative efficiency and support effective financial governance within the department.
