Dr. Ajay Kumar (Retd IAS: 1985: KL) has been appointed as the Chairman of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).
A retired Indian Administrative Service officer of the 1985 batch from the Kerala cadre, Dr. Kumar has held several high-profile roles in the Government of India, including as Defence Secretary. His vast administrative experience and leadership in critical ministries make him a fitting choice for heading the UPSC — the country’s premier central recruiting agency.
The appointment of Dr. Kumar comes at a time when the UPSC continues to play a crucial role in selecting top talent for India’s civil services, ensuring integrity and transparency in public recruitment.
