Gaurav Banerjee, hailing from Madhya Pradesh, has officially taken over as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Sony (India) as of August 26. He succeeds N.P. Singh, who held the position for 25 years. Banerjee, previously the Head of Content for Hindi Entertainment at Disney+ Hotstar and Business Head for Star Bharat, is the son of the late Sudeep Banerjee, a 1971 batch MP cadre IAS officer, and Rubina Banerjee, a former Professor of English residing in Jabalpur.
