The Kerala government has reinstated K Gopalakrishnan (IAS: 2013: KL), who had been suspended for allegedly creating a religion-based WhatsApp group involving government officials. Meanwhile, N Prasanth (IAS: 2007: KL), who was suspended for criticizing a senior IAS officer on social media, will remain under suspension for an additional 120 days.
Both officers were initially suspended on November 11, 2024. Following a review by the Suspension Review Committee, it was found that there were “no substantive grounds” to continue Gopalakrishnan’s suspension. As a result, he has been reinstated to his position.
In contrast, the Committee recommended that Prasanth’s suspension be extended for another 120 days, effective from January 10, 2025, due to the seriousness of the misconduct he was accused of.
