Madhur Agrawal, an officer of the Indian Railway Accounts Service (IRAS), 2009 batch, has been appointed as Director in the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). His appointment is on a central deputation basis for a period of five years, starting from the date he assumes charge or until further orders, whichever is earlier. Agrawal is known for his extensive experience in public finance and administrative roles, which is expected to strengthen the Ministry’s core areas, including internal security, governance, and financial oversight.
Meanwhile, the Government has also approved the extension of tenure for Dr. Samir V Kamat, who currently serves as the Secretary, Department of Defence Research and Development (DDR&D) and Chairman, Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).
Dr. Kamat will continue in this dual leadership role for one more year, from 01 June 2025 to 31 May 2026. A renowned scientist and technocrat, he has played a pivotal role in pushing forward indigenous capabilities in defence R&D and strategic technologies. His continued leadership is expected to ensure stability and momentum in key defence innovation programs.
