Famously infamous and infamously famous BJP MP from Kaiserganj Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, addressing an election rally in support of his son and BJP candidate Karan Singh, termed bureaucrat-turned-politician A K Sharma (Retd IAS: 1987: GJ) as Yashashwi Mukhyamantri of the state. Even if it could be a slip of tongue, political analysts consider his statement ‘not just a coincidence’.
Alternatively, Brij Bhushan Sharan’s remark is seen as his deliberate attempt to poke his bete noire in the party and to keep Sharma in good humour in the event of scenario taking swings post LS Polls 2024.
Amid all around whispers of change of guard in Uttar Pradesh post-2024 Lok Sabha elections which is also lapped up by the Opposition to make political dividend out of it, Sharma’s remarks bolstered the buzz. Addressing an election rally A K Sharma in return endorsed the political stature of Brij Bhushan and said that he held a significant place in the politics of the division or Poorvanchal but the entire Uttar Pradesh for four decades.
It may be underlined that former top bureaucrat Sharma’s proximity with Prime Minister Narendra Modi is hard fact and thus gives strength to these speculations who was sent to UP as his Hanuman (ears and eyes) which Sharma justified through his constant endeavour in ‘Banaras’ and state’s power centre ‘Lucknow’.
Going by Chanakya’s thoughts the way PM is praising Yogi Adityanath, it raises doubt if he is going to continue as CM post-2024 LS elections. MP’s former CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan also had the honour of PM’s praise during MP Assembly elections.
