The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has summoned Madhabi Puri Buch, chairperson of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), along with other officials, to appear before it on October 24.
The PAC, chaired by Congress leader K C Venugopal, includes members from both the ruling NDA and the Opposition. The SEBI officials will be called to provide evidence regarding the overall performance of the regulatory body.
The committee is expected to address allegations made against Buch in the Hindenburg Research Report, specifically concerning her and her husband Dhaval Buch’s stakes in obscure offshore entities. This hearing could lead to significant discussions regarding regulatory practices and accountability within SEBI.
