
New Delhi : In a major reshuffle, the President of India Droupadi Murmu effected a reshuffle of the governors of several states. Governors of Maharashtra, Manipur, Meghalaya, Telangana, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh were changed along with the Lt Governors of Puducherry and Chandigarh.
Gujarat’s most powerful bureaucrat K. Kailashnathan (Retd IAS: 1979: GJ) was appointed as Lt. Governor of Puducherry with effect from the date he assumes charge of his office.
The President of India has also accepted the resignation of Banwarilal Purohit as Governor of Punjab and Administrator of the Union Territory of Chandigarh.

Rajasthan- Haribhau Kisanrao Bagde
Telangana- Jishnu Dev Varma
Sikkim- Om Prakash Mathur
Jharkhand- Santosh Kumar Gangwar
Chhattisgarh- Ramen Deka
Meghalaya- C H Vijayashankar
Maharashtra- C.P. Radhakrishnan (earlier Governor of Jharkhand with Additional Charge of Telangana)
The appointment of KK as Lt. Governor of Puducherry signifies the fact that he has been indispensable to the New Delhi establishment since May 2014. It may be underlined that On his retirement as Additional Chief Secretary (Gujarat) in 2013 he was seamlessly appointed as the Chief Principal Secretary to CM and worked under four CMs namely; Narendra Modi, Anandiben Patel, Vijay Rupani and Bhupendra Patel. After Modi move to New Delhi as Prime Minister in May 2024 he continued to function as a bridge between Ahmedabad and New Delhi.
