Sanjiv Ranjan, an Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer of the 1993 batch, has been appointed as the new Secretary General of the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA). Currently serving as the Officer on Special Duty in the Ministry of External Affairs, Ranjan’s appointment marks a significant step in strengthening India’s role in regional and global maritime affairs.
The Indian Ocean Rim Association is an inter-governmental organization that promotes regional cooperation and sustainable development in the Indian Ocean region. Ranjan’s leadership is expected to foster closer ties between the member countries and advance collaborative initiatives aimed at addressing key issues such as maritime security, economic cooperation, and environmental sustainability.
