Saurav Pahari, a 2008-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the West Bengal cadre, has been prematurely repatriated from his post as Deputy Chairperson of the Tea Board, Kolkata. The Tea Board functions under the Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
According to official sources, the repatriation includes a stipulation of an extended cooling-off period. As per the order, Pahari will now be eligible for a fresh central deputation only after March 14, 2030.
This move has drawn attention within administrative circles due to the rarity of such extended cooling-off conditions, which typically suggest either administrative restructuring or other undisclosed factors.
