The Servants of India Society (SIS) has revoked its earlier decision to remove economist Sanjeev Sanyal as Chancellor of the Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics (GIPE), Pune.
In a letter issued on Saturday, SIS President Damodar Sahoo cited a “misunderstanding” behind the initial decision and requested that the removal order be treated as “null and void.” The letter also acknowledged Sanyal’s detailed response to concerns raised in the prior communication.
The reversal came just hours after Sanyal — a noted economist and member of the Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Council — publicly addressed the matter on social media, breaking his silence over the controversy.
