Around a dozen IAS-IPS officers tried their best to get Lok Sabha tickets from four important political outfits in Bihar – BJP, RJD, JD (U) and Congress but none of them have succeeded in getting ticket to contest elections to become Lok Sabha members. Some of them even took VRS to start their political journey.
Former DGP of Bihar Ashish Ranjan Sinha (Retd IPS: 1972: BH) wanted to contest as RJD candidate from Nalanda seat but the seta has gone to CPI (ML) in alliance. Similarly former DGP of Tamil Nadu B K Ravi (Retd IPS: 1989: TN) took VRS to contest Samastipur LS seat. Former Petroleum Secretary R S Pandey (Retd IAS: 1972: NG) wanted to contest from Valmik Nagar LS Constituency and K P Ramaiyya (Retd IAS: 1986: BH) wanted to contest from Sasaram (SC) constituency while another IAS officer Pancham Ram (Retd IAS: 1974: BH) also wanted to contest from the same seat but they were denied tickets. Former Jharkhand DGP Rajeev Kumar (Retd IPS: 1981: JH) who was supposed to get Congress ticket from Palamu (a reserved constituency) against BJP sitting MP & former DGP Jharkhand B D Ram (Retd IPS: 1973: JH).
Another TN cadre IPS officer of DGP rank Karuna Sagar (Retd IPS: 1991: TN) wanted RJD ticket from Jahanabad while Assam-Manipur cadre IPS officer Anand Mishra (Retd IPS: 2011: AM) wanted ticket from Buxar LS seat disappointing these officers at the outset.
