Sanjay Verma, a 1990-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer from the Maharashtra cadre, has been appointed as the new Director General of Police (DGP) for the state of Maharashtra. The Election Commission of India has officially designated him for the top police post, succeeding his predecessor in a significant leadership shift. Verma, who is currently serving as the Director General of Legal and Technical, brings decades of experience in law enforcement and police administration to the role.
