The Bihar government has appointed Vinay Kumar, an officer of the 1991 batch of the Indian Police Service (IPS) from the Bihar cadre, as the new Director General of Police (DGP) of the state. Vinay Kumar succeeds Alok Raj, who has served as DGP since 2021. In a surprising turn of events, Alok Raj has been appointed as the Managing Director of the Bihar Police Buildings Construction Corporation, marking a significant role reversal for the outgoing top cop. This reshuffle comes as part of the state government’s ongoing administrative changes.
