New Delhi, Senior diplomat Sibi George (IFS:1993) has been appointed as Secretary (West) in the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). He will assume the role following the superannuation of Tanmaya Lal (IFS:1991) on August 31, 2025.
George, a career diplomat with over three decades of experience, is expected to bring his extensive expertise in bilateral and multilateral diplomacy to the position. As Secretary (West), he will be responsible for managing India’s relations with countries in Europe, Africa, and Latin America.
Tanmaya Lal concludes a distinguished diplomatic career marked by significant contributions to India’s foreign policy in the western hemisphere.
