In a significant bureaucratic reshuffle, the Centre has announced multiple appointments and tenure extensions involving senior officers from various services.
Vishvajit Sahay (IDAS: 1990) has been appointed as Secretary (Defence Finance). He will succeed Raj Kumar Arora upon his retirement on April 30. Currently, Sahay is serving as Chief Controller General of Defence Accounts (CGDA).
In another key decision, Ajit Kumar Mohanty has been granted a one-year extension as Secretary, Department of Atomic Energy and Chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission (AEC) beyond April 11, 2026, under relaxation of FR 56 (d).
Rahul Pachori (IRSEE: 2010) has been appointed as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to Jayant Chaudhary, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. His tenure will run till January 14, 2028.
Santanu Kumar Agrahari (IAS: 2012, Jharkhand cadre) has been appointed as Director in the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA). He is currently serving as Private Secretary to V. Somanna, MoS for Jal Shakti and Railways.
Amit Satija (IAS: 2008, AGMUT cadre) has been appointed as Joint Secretary in the Eighth Central Pay Commission (8th CPC) under the Department of Expenditure for a tenure up to April 16, 2028.
Similarly, Niraj Kumar Gayagi (IDAS: 1997) has been appointed as Joint Secretary in the 8th CPC till April 6, 2027.
Vijyendra Kumar (IRS IT: 2007) has been appointed as Joint Director in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) until July 19, 2026.
The tenure of Anil Kumar as interim CMD of the National Divyangjan Finance and Development Corporation (NDFDC) has been extended by six months till September 11, 2026, or until a regular appointment is made.
Lily Pandeya (IRPS: 1998) has received a two-year extension as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Culture beyond May 31, 2026.
Additionally, Bishnu Charan Mallick (IAS: 2007, Rajasthan cadre) has been granted an extension as Director of Census Operations (DCO) and Director of Citizen Registration (DCR) for Rajasthan under the Ministry of Home Affairs.
These appointments and extensions are aimed at ensuring continuity and strengthening governance across crucial sectors of the government.
