NEW DELHI (28.05.2026): Notifications of appointments and recommendations issued on Thursday are as follows:-
The upgradation of the post of DIG in the Special Protection Group (SPG), presently held by Umesh Chander Datta (IPS: 2000: RJ), has been extended to the level of Inspector General (IG) for a further period of one year. The extension will remain effective up to 21.05.2027.
Datta is a 2000-batch Indian Police Service officer of the Rajasthan cadre and is currently serving in the SPG, the elite force responsible for providing proximate security to the Prime Minister of India and other designated protectees.
