New Delhi: The Government of India on Thursday issued a series of appointments and tenure-extension orders involving key positions in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) and at the World Bank headquarters in Washington, D.C.
Tarun Kapoor’s Tenure in PMO Extended
The tenure of Tarun Kapoor as Advisor to the Prime Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office has been extended by one year. He will continue to serve in the rank and pay scale of Secretary to the Government of India.
The extension will take effect from June 10, 2026.
Neelkanth Mishra Appointed to World Bank
Economist Neelkanth Mishra has been appointed as Executive Director at the World Bank headquarters in Washington, D.C., for a tenure of three years.
He will succeed Parameswaran Iyer, who currently represents India at the World Bank.
Parameswaran Iyer’s Tenure Extended Until Successor Joins
The government has also extended the tenure of Parameswaran Iyer beyond June 19, 2026. He will continue in the role of Executive Director at the World Bank until Neelkanth Mishra formally assumes charge.
