Nidhi Khare (IAS: 1992: Jharkhand cadre), Secretary, Department of Consumer Affairs, has been entrusted with the additional charge of the post of Secretary, Department of Food & Public Distribution.
As per an official order of the Government of India, she will hold the additional responsibility from June 20, 2026, to July 2, 2026, during the leave period of Sanjeev Chopra (IAS: 1990: Odisha cadre), the incumbent Secretary of the Department of Food & Public Distribution.
During this period, Nidhi Khare will oversee the functions of both departments, ensuring continuity in policymaking, administration, and the implementation of key initiatives related to consumer affairs, food security, and the public distribution system. The arrangement has been made to ensure the smooth functioning of the ministry during the absence of the regular secretary.
