Nikunja Bihari Dhal (IAS: 1993: Odisha cadre), currently serving as Secretary, Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, has been entrusted with the additional charge of the post of Secretary, Department of Justice, Ministry of Law & Justice.
According to an official order issued by the Government of India, Dhal will hold the additional responsibility from June 20, 2026, to June 26, 2026, during the leave period of Niraj Verma (IAS: 1994: AGMUT), who is the incumbent Secretary, Department of Justice.
The temporary assignment ensures continuity in the functioning of the Department of Justice and the smooth discharge of administrative responsibilities during the absence of the regular secretary. Dhal will continue to perform his duties in the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs alongside the additional charge.
