For those who are yet to know who Additional Director General of Police, Shahdol zone Dinesh Chand Sagar’s (1992 batch, Madhya Pradesh cadre) is, here is a brief introduction but there still remains much unsaid. A man of discipline, high on energy levels, a critical thinker, an active listener, and a compassionate officer and this is just a brief. These qualities along with his ideology and devotion to serve people and democracy has earned him many laurels in his policing career spanning over three decades.
The latest feather in the cap of this vibrant and energetic senior police officer is the prestigious Annual State Award for Best Electoral Practices-2023 that was awarded on 14th national Voters Day on January 25, 2024. His devotion in bringing about voting awareness among the tribals located in very remote areas and locals of Shahdol Zone and inspiring them to cast their vote by connecting with them on a personal level has rightly earned him this excellent award.

Not only this, his uniform is adorned with four presidential medals including two Police Gallantry, Jeevan Raksha, Indian Police Medal for Meritorious service and one from Ministry of Home Affairs/ state Internal Security Medals. Apart from these, he is also the recipient of seven state level awards including the Indira Gandhi Sampradayik Updrav Roktham or Souhadra Puruskar for establishing Communal Harmony (Bhojshala, Dhar); CM’s- Revolver for Excellence in Anti-Dacoity Operations in Chambal Zone; Durgam Seva Padak 2000 and 2016 for Anti Naxal Operations for two years in Rajnandgaon & Mandla and Balaghat zone; Commendation from Chief Election Officer, M.P. for Conducting Lok Sabha Election peacefully and efficiently in 2014, as IGP Chambal and in 2023, as ADGP Shahdol Zone and Karamveer Yoddha Medal for Enforcement of Government protocols to fight Covid-19 transmission in Bhopal.
In addition to these there is a beeline of several state level commendations for several works carried out by IPS DC Sagar. And as we conclude this piece, we wish ADGP DC Sagar many more awards come his way for his devotion and service to democracy.
