In a significant bureaucratic development, Ashish Thakare, an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the 2011 batch from the Odisha cadre, has been appointed as Director in the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.
According to an official order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), Thakare will serve in the role for a period of five years, beginning from the date he assumes charge of the post or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
The appointment is part of the Government of India’s ongoing efforts to strengthen administrative leadership in key departments, especially those related to inclusive development and social justice.
