New Delhi: The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has approved changes to the names of nine metro stations across the capital. A total of 21 proposals were reviewed, out of which 12 station names remain unchanged. Seven stations have undergone partial modifications, while two stations have been completely renamed.
The final decision was taken by the State Naming Authority chaired by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. According to a statement from the Chief Minister’s Office, each proposal was carefully examined, keeping in mind local identity and cultural significance.

Stations with Modified Names:
Uttari Pitampura–Prashant Vihar (earlier Prashant Vihar)
Jagatpur–Wazirabad (earlier Jagatpur)
Nanak Pyao–Derawal Nagar (earlier Derawal Nagar)
Khanpur–Vayusainabad (earlier Khanpur)
Nanaksar–Sonia Vihar (earlier Sonia Vihar)
Shri Ram Mandir Mayur Vihar (earlier Mayur Vihar Pocket 1)
Mangolpur Kalan–West Enclave (earlier West Enclave)
Stations Fully Renamed
Uttari Pitampura has been renamed Haiderpur Village
Pitampura has been renamed Madhuban Chowk
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta stated that metro stations are not merely transit points but also represent the identity and cultural heritage of the areas they serve. Therefore, every name was finalized after detailed discussion and consideration.
