In a recent move that has drawn attention, the Department of Revenue (Ministry of Finance) reshuffled the responsibilities of three Special Directors in the Enforcement Directorate (ED). This reshuffle, occurring just before the Maharashtra Assembly elections, has sparked curiosity regarding its timing and implications.
Satyabrata Kumar (IRS C&IT: 2004), who previously served as the Special Director in charge of the Western Region, has been reassigned to lead the Eastern Region. He replaces Subhash Agrawal (IRS C&IT: 1993), who has moved to oversee the Western Region, based in Mumbai. Satyabrata’s prior experience includes serving as a staff officer to former ED Director Sanjay Kumar Mishra.
Additionally, Abhishek Goyal (IPS: 2005: KN), currently functioning as Special Director of the Enforcement (HIU), has been granted additional responsibilities for the Northern Region.
Sources suggest that the New Delhi establishment viewed the reshuffle as a necessary adjustment to optimize the leadership structure within the ED, particularly in the context of the upcoming elections.
