New Delhi : The New Delhi dispensation on Saturday announced Dr T V Somanathan (IAS: 1987: TN) as Cabinet Secretary designate by appointing Somanathan as Officer On Special Duty in the Cabinet Secretariat. Currently, he is Secretary, Department of Expenditure in the Ministry of Finance and Finance Secretary designate.
It may be underlined that Dr Somanathan will succeed the incumbent Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba (IAS: 1982: JH) as 33rd Cabinet Secretary w.e.f 30.08.2024.
