Two AK-47 Rifles Recovered in Joint Operation ‘Trashi-1’

By NSB.News Desk

Kishtwar: Security forces achieved a major breakthrough in an anti-terror operation in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district, eliminating two militants, including a top commander of the banned outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM).

According to top sources, intelligence inputs had indicated the presence of two suspected Pakistani militants linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed in the area. Acting on this information, joint teams of the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) launched a coordinated search operation under “Operation Trashi-1.”

Gunfight Near Chatroo Belt

Officials stated that the encounter began around 10:30 a.m. on Sunday near the Paserakut area in the Chatroo belt. The militants, who were hiding inside a mud house on a hilltop, opened indiscriminate fire as security personnel approached, triggering a fierce exchange of gunfire.

Both militants were neutralized in the operation. Sources identified one of them as Saifullah, a top commander of Jaish-e-Mohammed.

Arms and Ammunition Seized

Security forces recovered two AK-47 rifles along with ammunition and other incriminating materials from the encounter site. The area has been cordoned off, and search operations are ongoing to ensure no other militants are hiding nearby.

Officials confirmed that the operation remains active and that forces are maintaining heightened vigilance in the region. The action is being seen as a significant blow to the militant network operating in the area.
