Anil Kumar Lahoti (IRSE: 1984), former Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Railway Board, Ministry of Railways, has been appointed as Chairman Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) for a period of three years or until he attains the age of 65 years.
The post of TRAI chairman has been lying vacant for four months after the retirement of P D Vaghela (IAS: 1986: GJ) on September 30, 2023.
Lahoti was empanelled in the first panel of Indian Railways Management Service for Level-17 and took charge as Chairman & CEO, Railway Board on January 1, 2023. The Anand Vihar Terminal in Delhi and the iconic Ajmeri Gate side station building of New Delhi station were planned and constructed by him. He was also closely associated with planning for redevelopment of New Delhi station as a World Class station including commercial development of land and air space.
