New Delhi : The Congress high command is considering to give Kanhaiya Kumar some important role in Delhi as Delhi Assembly polls are likely to be held in January 2025. Sources claimed that Kanhaiya Kumar will be considered as young face from Poorvanchal. The Capital city has substantial population from Bihar and eastern Uttar Pradesh. Arvind Kejriwal had swept last two elections by garnering their votes. The Congress has emerged strong and may contest Delhi assembly elections without electoral tie-up with AAP. Therefore, the Congress is ready to field Kanhaiya in this role.
Kanhaiya was keen to try his luck in LS polls as an independent candidate from Begusarai when the Congress brought him to Delhi as party candidate from North-East Delhi. He was in a neck and neck contest against BJP candidate Manoj Tiwari. Here he proved his mettle as a strong candidate. This gave him an entry in the Congress as a Poorvanchal face. Now, the high command is keen to entrust him with new responsibility. This may be seen as a setback for many senior leaders of Delhi Congress.
