Manish Thakur, an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the 1998 batch from the Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, and Nagaland (AM) cadre, has been appointed as the new Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Tribal Affairs. He will serve in this role for a tenure of five years, succeeding R Jaya (IAS: 1995: Tamil Nadu), who held the position previously.
