New Delhi: Amid the escalating conflict between India and Pakistan, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has issued a directive to all Chief Secretaries and Administrators of States and Union Territories to invoke emergency powers under the Civil Defence Rules, 1968.
Invoking Section 11 of the Civil Defence Rules grants Emergency Procurement Powers to Directors of Civil Defence in each state and UT. This move is aimed at facilitating swift and effective implementation of precautionary and protective measures on the ground.
The order comes as several districts across the country have been placed on high alert following Pakistan’s attempted retaliatory action in response to India’s recent military operation, codenamed Operation Sindoor.
This proactive measure aligns with the Centre’s broader strategy to enhance preparedness and civil response capabilities during national security contingencies.
