The Government of India has entrusted Santosh Kumar Sarangi (IAS: 1994: OR) with the additional charge of Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of the Solar Energy Corporation of India Ltd (SECI).
This interim appointment will remain in effect until a regular incumbent is appointed or until further orders are issued, whichever comes earlier.
Sarangi, a senior IAS officer of the 1994 batch from the Odisha cadre, currently holds other significant responsibilities within the government. His appointment reflects the Centre’s continued efforts to ensure seamless leadership in key energy sector institutions during transitional periods.
SECI, under the administrative control of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), plays a pivotal role in implementing India’s ambitious renewable energy goals, particularly in the solar energy domain.
