NBCC (India) Limited, a Navratna Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, on May 5, 2026 laid the foundation stone for the new IIFT campus at Maidangarhi, New Delhi. The project is being executed on an Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) basis with a sanctioned cost of around Rs 350 crore.
The foundation stone ceremony was presided over by Dr. K.P. Mahadevaswamy, Chairman and Managing Director of NBCC, who attended as the Chief Guest. Dr. Suman Kumar, Director (Commercial), along with senior dignitaries, institutional stakeholders and NBCC officials, were also present on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Mahadevaswamy highlighted that the project is not just an expansion of IIFT’s infrastructure but a long-term investment to strengthen its global competitiveness and collaboration capabilities.
The upcoming campus will be developed on a 7.55-acre site near Chhatarpur in South Delhi, offering excellent connectivity to metro stations, major road networks and Indira Gandhi International Airport. Envisioned as a modern academic hub, the campus will feature a total built-up area of nearly 54,000 square metres, enhancing the institute’s existing infrastructure.
The campus will include advanced academic facilities such as smart classrooms, lecture halls, faculty offices, conference rooms and a modern library, creating a technology-driven learning environment. A major highlight will be a 1,000-seater auditorium designed to host international conferences, seminars and institutional events.
Student housing will include a modern hostel complex accommodating over 600 students, with dining, fitness and recreational facilities. Dedicated residential units for faculty members will also be part of the campus, ensuring a vibrant academic community.
The project integrates sustainability-focused features including LED lighting, solar photovoltaic systems, advanced HVAC solutions and passive design strategies that allow over 80% natural daylight usage. It also includes rainwater harvesting, water recycling systems and eco-friendly construction materials, aiming to achieve a minimum 3-star GRIHA rating.
Additionally, the campus will offer two-level basement parking for over 400 vehicles, barrier-free access, advanced fire safety systems and well-planned movement networks. Landscaped courtyards, open spaces and interconnected pathways will further enhance the campus environment.
With this project, NBCC continues to strengthen its portfolio of major institutional and government infrastructure developments, reinforcing its expertise in delivering large-scale projects across the country.
