New Delhi (19 December 2025): The redeveloped headquarters of the World Health Organization–South-East Asia Regional Office (WHO-SEARO) at Indraprastha Estate, New Delhi, was inaugurated by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi along with Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization.

The inauguration marks a significant milestone in strengthening regional and global public health cooperation. The modernised campus has been designed to support WHO’s expanded role in addressing public health challenges, promoting research, and enhancing coordination among South-East Asian member states.
Speaking on the occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted India’s long-standing commitment to global health, noting the country’s role as a trusted partner in affordable healthcare solutions, vaccine production, and capacity building. He emphasised that the redeveloped WHO-SEARO headquarters reflects India’s vision of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” — the world as one family.
Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus praised India’s contributions to global health initiatives and underscored the importance of the South-East Asia region in achieving universal health coverage and pandemic preparedness. He stated that the new facility would further strengthen WHO’s ability to respond effectively to health emergencies and support member countries.
