The Government of India has approved the temporary upgradation of the post of Additional Secretary in the Department of Commerce to the rank and pay scale of Special Secretary. This upgradation will be effective from April 18, 2025, to September 30, 2025.
The post is currently held by Rajesh Agarwal, a 1994 batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer from the Manipur cadre.
The move is part of an administrative adjustment, likely aimed at aligning responsibilities with higher-level policy functions during the specified period.
