Shri Proteek Kumar Chakraborty has officially assumed charge as Director (Finance) at Electronics Corporation of India Limited (ECIL), a Schedule ‘A’ CPSE under the Department of Atomic Energy and a Miniratna Company.

Prior to joining ECIL, Shri Chakraborty served as Additional General Manager (Finance) at Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL). He also held the prestigious post of Chief (Finance) at the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) from July 2021 to January 2024 — a role equivalent to Joint Secretary in the Government of India.
An accomplished and seasoned finance professional, Shri Chakraborty is a member of both the Institute of Cost Accountants of India and the Institute of Company Secretaries of India. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce from St. Xavier’s College, Ranchi, and brings with him over 27 years of extensive experience in various domains of finance and accounts.
His career has spanned across multiple verticals including manufacturing units, corporate functions, internal audit, business sectors, and project execution at BHEL. During his tenure at CERC, he played a crucial role in handling regulatory functions in the power sector, such as the issuance of tariff orders, financial modelling, licensing, and formulation of key regulations.
Shri Chakraborty has received multiple productivity awards at BHEL in recognition of his contributions. He has also played a significant role in international energy cooperation, having been a member of the Ministry of Power’s “One Sun One World One Grid” taskforce from CERC, focused on exploring global electricity grid interconnections.
With his rich experience and leadership, Shri Chakraborty is expected to bring strategic financial direction and drive innovation in financial management at ECIL.
