Shobha Ohatkar Appointed BSSC Chairperson, Arvind Kumar Chaudhary Relieved of Additional Charge

Retired IPS officer Shobha Ohatkar has been appointed as the Chairperson of the Bihar Staff Selection Commission, or BSSC.

Ohatkar, a 1990-batch Indian Police Service officer of the Bihar cadre, retired as Director General of Home Guard and Fire Services, Bihar, on June 30, 2026.

Her appointment has been made under the provisions of the Bihar Staff Selection Commission Act, 2002.

Following Ohatkar’s appointment, Additional Chief Secretary Arvind Kumar Chaudhary, a 1995-batch IAS officer of the Bihar cadre, has been relieved of the additional charge of BSSC Chairperson.

Chaudhary had been handling the responsibility of the commission in addition to his existing administrative duties.

As BSSC Chairperson, Ohatkar will head the state recruitment body responsible for conducting selection processes for various non-gazetted posts under the Bihar government.
