High-Level Discussions in New Delhi on Comprehensive Development of 139 Hectares

The Vice President of the Republic of Seychelles, His Excellency Mr. Sebastien Pillay, led a high-level delegation on an official visit to the corporate office of NBCC (India) Limited in New Delhi. During the visit, the delegation held detailed discussions with Mr. K. P. Mahadevaswamy, Chairman and Managing Director, along with other senior officials of the company regarding ongoing and proposed development projects in Seychelles.
A comprehensive presentation was made outlining the proposed infrastructure development plan for approximately 139 hectares of island land. The ambitious project envisions affordable social housing, recreational and hospitality facilities, premium villas, sports grounds, and supporting social infrastructure. The initiative is expected to contribute significantly to sustainable and balanced urban development in the island nation.
The visit builds upon earlier high-level engagements between the Seychelles government and NBCC’s leadership during the Chairman and Managing Director’s visit to Seychelles in January this year. The delegation was also briefed on NBCC’s international project execution capabilities, including the successful completion of a 2,000-unit social housing project in Hulhumalé, Maldives. The critical role played by skilled Indian manpower and construction materials in delivering the project efficiently was highlighted.
The Vice President and members of the delegation expressed confidence in NBCC’s technical expertise and project management capabilities, appreciating the detailed presentations made during the meeting. They emphasized the importance of developing resilient and sustainable infrastructure solutions tailored to the unique geographical and environmental challenges faced by island nations.
On the occasion, the Chairman and Managing Director reaffirmed NBCC’s commitment to delivering high-quality, sustainable, and timely infrastructure solutions. He expressed confidence in further strengthening multi-sectoral cooperation with the Republic of Seychelles. It is noteworthy that NBCC is currently executing projects in Seychelles, including the construction of the Indian Chancery building, a cultural center, and residential units—reflecting India’s continued commitment to enhancing bilateral development partnerships.
The Vice President’s visit underscores the strong and enduring partnership between India and Seychelles and highlights a shared vision to advance infrastructure development and deepen strategic cooperation between the two nations.
