Speaking in the Lok Sabha, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed concern over the rapidly changing situation in the Middle East. He noted that escalating tensions between Iran, Israel, and the United States could significantly impact the global economy, energy security, and international supply chains.

He emphasized that the Indian government is closely monitoring developments and remains fully alert. Referring to a recent high-level meeting with senior ministers, the Prime Minister said discussions focused on potential disruptions to oil imports, fertilizer supply, and trade.

The government has formulated short-term, medium-term, and long-term strategies to ensure uninterrupted availability of essential commodities. Special attention has also been given to securing alternative sources of fertilizers to safeguard the interests of farmers.

Highlighting citizen safety, the Prime Minister said it remains the government’s top priority. He noted that 24×7 control rooms and emergency helplines have been set up both in India and in affected regions, issuing regular advisories.

He further informed that since the beginning of the conflict, more than 375,000 Indians have been safely brought back to the country. The Prime Minister assured that India is fully prepared to tackle any challenges arising from the ongoing crisis while prioritizing national interests.
