Sanjay Singh (IPS: 1996: OD), the head of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) SIT that gave a clean chit Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan in the Cordelia drug bust case, was allowed to take voluntary retirement a year before his tenure ended. Singh is currently the Deputy Director General (DDG) of the NCB and April 30 will be his last date.
The officer has been serving as Deputy Director General of the NCB since January 2021. Singh had also led the special investigation team, which took over the cruise drug case from NCB Mumbai headed by Sameer Wankhede in November 2021. Aryan Khan was later given a clean chit in the case. After there was controversy over the probe of NCB Zonal Director Sameer Wankhede, the agency had formed an SIT under Singh that was asked to investigate the case again.
