The abrupt shift in leadership at the Department of Financial Services (DFS) has sparked diverse interpretations and speculation. With Nagaraju stepping in as the new DFS Secretary, there are questions about whether he will redistribute portfolios and assign additional responsibilities to Dr. M P Tangirala, the current Additional Secretary.
Concerns also arise about whether the current Joint Secretary for banking will maintain the privileges enjoyed under previous administrations, including international travel and hospitality from Public Sector Banks (PSBs). These issues are being widely discussed in the corridors of Jeevan Tara Bhawan.
Additionally, there is speculation that one or both of these senior officers might request a transfer from the DFS. For now, stakeholders are advised to “wait and watch” as developments unfold.
