In a significant administrative reshuffle, Kaushal Raj Sharma (IAS: 2006: UP), one of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s trusted officers, has been appointed as Secretary to Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. His appointment follows a strong track record in Uttar Pradesh, where he most recently served as Secretary to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
Sharma previously held critical roles in Varanasi, the Prime Minister’s constituency, serving both as District Magistrate and later as Divisional Commissioner. During his tenure, he oversaw several flagship projects aimed at urban renewal and infrastructure development. His shift to Delhi, approved by the Ministry of Home Affairs, comes under a three-year deputation to the AGMUT cadre.
Sources indicate Sharma will be tasked with overseeing and expediting developmental projects across the National Capital. His arrival is seen as part of a broader effort to reinforce the administrative machinery under the new BJP-led government in Delhi.
