New Delhi: The Central Government has approved the inter-cadre transfer of IPS officer Mane Swapnil Tukaram (IPS: 2022: WB) from the West Bengal cadre to the Karnataka cadre. The transfer has been granted on the grounds of his marriage to Shaloo (IPS: 2021: KT), an IPS officer belonging to the Karnataka cadre.
According to an official notification issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Mane Swapnil Tukaram will now serve under the Karnataka cadre. Inter-cadre transfers in the Indian Police Service are permitted under the spouse policy, which allows married officers to work in the same state cadre to maintain family unity and administrative convenience.
The matter had earlier drawn administrative and legal attention after reports suggested that the Karnataka Government had issued a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for the transfer, while the process was pending from the West Bengal side. The Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) had also directed authorities to complete the process within a stipulated timeframe.
With the Centre’s approval, the transfer of Mane Swapnil Tukaram to the Karnataka cadre has now become official.
