New Delhi : Senior Indian Foreign Service officer Dr Ajay Kumar (IFS: 2002), currently serving at the Embassy of India in Washington, has been appointed as the next High Commissioner of India to the Republic of Uganda.
According to an official announcement by the Ministry of External Affairs, Dr Ajay Kumar is expected to take up the assignment shortly. He will represent India in Uganda and oversee diplomatic, political, economic, and bilateral engagements between the two countries.
A 2002-batch officer of the Indian Foreign Service, Dr Ajay Kumar has served in various important diplomatic assignments during his career. His current posting at the Indian Embassy in Washington has involved key responsibilities related to India-US relations and international cooperation.
Uganda remains an important partner for India in Africa, particularly in areas such as trade, investment, development partnership, education, and healthcare. Dr Ajay Kumar’s appointment is expected to further strengthen bilateral ties between India and Uganda.
